The circular economy is a new model of production and consumption that is aimed at guaranteeing sustainable growth over time. Its goal is to optimise resources, reduce consumption of raw materials and give new life to waste through recycling and re-use. The circular economy is inspired by nature, seeking to close the life cycle of products and avoid unnecessary waste. The circular economy offers a promising vision for a more sustainable future that respects the environment.

At Scodium, we attempt to apply the the concept of the circular economy to our products. Our premium product have parts which are 3D printed using a plastic called PLA (polylactic acid). PLA is produced from renewable resources such as corn starch or sugar cane. It’s a natural polymer designed to substitute widely used petroleum-based plastics like PET (polyethene terephthalate). PLA is bio-degradable and breaks down into water and carbon dioxide in around 180 days when composted.

Each premium product comes with a card that reminds the customer of this attempt. The card also comes with a 3D printed label of the Scodium company logo.
